Our "Give Back" Initiative

Beginning in the 2012-2013 season, Two Ridges (T2RBL) began an initiative to "Give Back" to the community in which we serve. This started with our annual T2RBL Holiday "Give Back" Tip-Off Tournament. Youth Sports teaches more than just the game.  Youth sports teach a number of life lessons that we all use in our daily lives as we get older and stop playing the games we will always love.

In 2012-2013 Two Ridges raised approximately $2000 to help the DiGiovanna scholarship fund after Tony's passing. The funds raised helped his 4 children with their continuing education costs later in life.  In addition to raising these funds, the Two Ridges community also collected over 1000lbs of food to support Loudoun Interfaith relief and their efforts to provide food across Loudoun.

At our 2013-2014 Tip Off Tournament, Two Ridges experienced another loss in our community with the passing of Gavin Rupp earlier in the year. Gavin passed away after a nearly 3 year battle with cancer. Together our community raised $5000 which was donated to Children's National Medical Center on his behalf to help fund childhood cancer research and care for children battling the disease.

Later in the 2013-2014 season Two Ridges was approached by Central Loudoun Basketball League (CLBL) to host an All-Star event that benefitted a Loudoun County charity. Together, with the help of Loudoun Sports Alliance (LSA), we launched what will now be an annual event, the Loudoun Charity Basketball Classic (LBCC). With teams participating from T2RBL, CLBL and Western Loudoun (WLBL), together we raised $10,000 in support of Gabriella Miller's Smashing Walnuts Foundation. T2RBL and CLBL along with LSA are already in the processing of planning for the 2nd Annual LBCC that will take place on March 13-15th of 2015.

For the 2014-15 season, operating under our new name of AYBL, we chose to support two charities close to home for all of us.  The first is BackPack Buddies, which helps supply food to the nearly 11,000 children in Loudoun County that are considered to be food "insecure."  11,000 children when they go home from school on Fridays may or may not have enough food to eat over the weekend.  BackPack Buddies helps supply these children with easy to prepare meals over the course of the weekend so they don't go hungry until Monday.  We also chose to support Tragedy Assistance Program (TAPS). TAPS provides support to families who have lost loved ones in our armed services fighting for our freedom overseas as well as law enforcement right here at home.  Through the donations collected during our 3rd Annual "Give Back" Tip Off tournament, we will pledge a donation to support families who are greiving a recent loved one.
